Description of the service

The website can be used to complete the online reservation process for a bowling lane at a specific time. Berolina uses the 4bowl booking interface operated by Logo-Solution GmbH for this purpose. On the German “Bahn reservieren” page, it loads in an embedded region after the reservation type has been selected and the load button has been activated expressly. Other designated booking links continue to open the interface in a dialogue. A direct link also allows the booking interface to be opened in a new browser window.

In particular, the category, date, time, duration, number of people and number of lanes are selected in the booking interface and summarised before completion. Confirmation of the free reservation is then sent by email. No online payment is made; the online reservation does not create a payment obligation. The paid bowling contract is concluded only at the venue after the total price, including any optional extras, has been communicated.

Applicable accessibility requirements

The German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and the Regulation under that Act apply in particular to the digital booking service. Information and user interfaces should be designed to be findable, perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. Required digital functions should work with assistive technologies.

Implementation on this website

The following measures in particular have been implemented for the part of the booking journey controlled by Berolina:

• structured headings and labelled controls;
• keyboard operation and visible focus indicators;
• a labelled booking region embedded directly in the reservation page, with grouped controls for choosing the reservation type and a load button that must be activated expressly;
• a labelled booking dialogue with focus management, a visible close button and return to the booking link that opened it after closing; while focus is outside the embedded 4bowl frame, the dialogue can also be closed with Escape;
• announced loading and timeout states, a retry button and a clearly titled booking frame;
• a direct link for opening the booking interface in a new window.

The food and drink menu is available as a simplified structured HTML overview. A compact, tagged PDF file is also offered for download.

The content and functions displayed within the booking frame are provided by Logo-Solution GmbH through 4bowl. Feedback about the usability of the booking interface can be sent to Berolina using the contact details below; we will forward it to the technical provider where necessary.

Access to the venue

This BFSG information concerns digital booking. The venue itself is in the basement and can be reached only by a fairly long staircase. There is no lift, and there is one additional step down to the lanes. The premises therefore do not have step-free access and do not currently offer a dedicated accessibility service.
